The Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider

In October 1955 the Giulietta Spider was introduced; a roadster based on the Giulietta Sprint coupé but then on a shortened wheelbase. Fitted with the famous 1.3 litre Alfa twin cam engine the Giulietta Spider was a great success. After nine years of production her successor the Giulia Spider was introduced. It was put on the market with a number of improvements including a 1.6 litre engine and a 5-speed gearbox. Engine power rose from 80 hp to a whopping 93 hp. The new Giulietta can be easily recognised by the scoop on the bonnet, which was necessary to fit in the bigger engine. The stunning bodywork was designed and built by Pininfarina. Because of the bigger engine displacement not only the maximum speed increased to 175km/h but also the engine’s characteristics and the car’s handling and reliability significantly improved. The Giulia Spider certainly is on of the most attractive Alfa Romeo’s of its time and currently the most sought-after model of the Giulias. In total about 9,250 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider were built.

About this Alfa Romeo Giulia spider

This Giulia Spider with its beautiful lines dates back to 1965. The following year the production of this model was stopped in order to clear the way for the new Spider model. According to connoisseurs this marks the end of the era of the so elegantly and handsomely designed “classic” Giulia Spiders that were produced between 1962 and 1966. In 2015 and 2016 the car underwent a professional restoration at Carrozzeria Roggia in Treviso, Italy. In 2016 we purchased the Alfa Romeo from Carrozzeria Roggia and shipped it to The Netherlands. In February 2017 the car was added to the collection of a Dutch car aficionado who cherished and cared for this Spider and used it not too often and with care. Due to a change in his collection this desirable Italian became available for sale at Brooks Classics again. The bodywork, designed and built by Pininfarina, is in a very good condition. The interior is fitted with red leather seats and finished with matching door panels and rugs. The folding roof is in an excellent condition as well and closes tightly to the body of the car. The white paintwork as well as the chrome trim of the bumpers are in an impeccable condition; emblems and ornaments inside and outside the car are complete and original. A Giulia Spider of this year is fully elaborate and is in terms of specifications and model the most developed, which benefits driving pleasure and the reliability of the car. The future owner will definitely enjoy driving with the hood down, the wind blowing through the hair and the unmistakable sound of the Alfa twin cam engine; and the public will enjoy seeing this unique piece of art by the famous Italian master Pinifarina just as much.
